The Awkward Moment When - Poem by Zac Wittstruck

the anvil falls within two meters
of the fleeting feather'd fiend
sends steam to the wooly aggressor
who, hiding in his dresser,
spends the last of his hard
earned paper weighted money
on pitless dates and diet honey
to fit an uphill treadmill run
into his vacant schedule. Transformed,
he waits for the key to his own
chastity belt, and, never finding
it, becomes discouraged, and leaps
from the drawer and into a
heap of soiled toil. The feather'd
fiend then finds he has forgotten
his virtuous nature and his sidekick,
the lizard creature, stammers her way
through the previous day.
