The Sacrifice - Poem by Judith Blatherwick

And so the sky grew darker
High above Golgotha hill.
The light drew back in sorrow
As the man below grew still.

His destiny was written
On the day that he was born.
His fate a weighty mantle
Which courageously he'd worn.

To bring hope to all people
And to guide them on their way,
The path he'd bravely followed
Was to end on this cruel day.

But wonder of all wonders,
After suffering such pain,
This Man, adored by Heaven,
Would return to life again.

So Angels blow your trumpets,
Herald all that he has done.
For God the Father blessed us
With his most beloved Son.
