A Flower Is A Flower - Poem by Robert Murray Smith

The years for all mark a life lived,

Those years of the old have seen, and
been there.

Being old is the epitome of being, as we
age it's the mind that has lived.

The younger in years have, and will never
live those years of the old.

It will be their privilege to grow from young
to old, but they have no guarantee of life.

When looking at the aged, engage your mind
to remind yourself that you may be lucky to be old.

Pity by the young for the old is foolish, as the old don't
want ageism to apply to their years of being.

A flower is a flower whether it has just bloomed, or
has been around awhile.
