If Pictures Could Speak
A woman, skeletal and gaunt
Peers out from the flaking canvas,
Her dress faded emerald
And her dark locks pulled tight in a bun.
If pictures could speak,
She’d say, “The fairest rose at last has withered.”

A boy, fresh faced and young
Yet crying tears of sorrow,
Sits alone beside a vast grand . . .
