In The Dark
In the darkness monsters lurk,
hidden in the mist and murk.
Close your eyes and hold your ears,
hidden are your greatest fears.

Slimy limbs and big sharp teeth,
waiting on the floor beneath
the very bed where you do lie.
If you speak they may reply,
silly mortal soon you die.

I don't know how it came to be,
you somehow put a spell on me.
You told me that you were my friend,
I never knew how it would end.

I gave you everything I could,
you threw it in me face and stood,
upon the key that held my sense
and took some more, every pence.
