Danae Petroulakis Poems

Best Poem of Danae Petroulakis

I ponder on the edge of a cliff
my thoughts, my heart and soul adrift
A little bend,
the paved road's end,
This is where my life begins.

So fragile, so mortal
so peculiarly small
I smile and look upon the world
and am tempted to just fall

To fall into the mountains
and rise . . .
A simple movement of the clock
the steady descent of each sweet rain drop
A quick kiss before a rapid retreat
The measure of my heart's steady beat.

Change in the flip of a copper coin
A false belief that hearts, souls, will join
Young tender and immortal love
A bloodstain on a pure white dove . . .
