Poems about beauty - A Dying Beauty

A Dying Beauty - Poem by Waltzing Mouse

She looked into a mirror
And behind her porcelain mask of pain
Is a beauty no one else sees
Her face, pale as damask
Shows the sorrow of past regrets
Her eyes, limpid pools of desire
Are drowning in hatred
Her lips, once ruby red
Have faded, like a dying season
She winces as she recalls why
And I realise in horror
That the girl in the mirror
Is me.
